Many of you may be aware of the recent passing of Professor Don Metzler, a beloved member of the CSET department at Oregon Tech for over 30 years. Don, along with Lew Jones, helped develop the Software Engineering Technology program at Oregon Tech. Don served as department chair of the CSET department for many years providing leadership within the department as well as the university.
Personally, Don had a profound influence and impact on my life. He was my teacher, advisor, mentor, colleague, and dear friend. His unwavering support of the CSET students inspired me to become a teacher myself. I cannot think of a better way of to honor Don’s commitment to students than with this scholarship.
